Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need therapy?

We all experience challenges and difficult situations in life. Therapy simply provides you with extra support when you need it — from an unbiased, experienced professional. By engaging in therapy, you are accepting responsibility for your life and committing to change your situation. Therapy can equip you with long-lasting benefits, providing the tools you need to avoid triggers, re-directing damaging patterns, and helping you overcome whatever challenges you face.

If you can’t decide whether therapy is right for you, schedule a consultation. During that session, we can talk about your concerns and struggles and you can decide whether you see value in continuing with additional sessions.

What happens in a therapy session?

While every therapy session is unique, each one allows us to discuss the issues and concerns you wish to discuss. The most effective therapy session is one in which you are an active participant — the more you put into our time together, the more effective it becomes. A typical session lasts 50 minutes.

How often are therapy sessions scheduled?

Therapy is most effective within the context of a trusting and supportive relationship between therapist and client. That is why I believe it is best to begin our therapy journey together on a weekly basis, allowing us to develop a strong foundation on which we can begin making progress as quickly as possible. After the initial stage, we can work together to create a schedule that works best for you and your personal goals.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Your privacy is one of my number one priorities. What you share with me during therapy sessions is completely confidential, with the exception of certain safety issues as mandated by the state of California. When you complete your initial client paperwork, you’ll have access to a copy of my privacy policy for your records, which we can discuss together at any time.

What is your fee?

My standard fee is $140 per therapy session but can vary depending on many factors. Please contact me to discuss your therapy needs and specific situation.

Do you accept insurance?

While I do not accept insurance directly, I do offer mental health services as an out-of-network provider. Through my online client portal, however, you have on-demand access to downloadable, itemized medical receipts and “Super Bills” you can submit to your insurance company for any eligible out-of-network therapy benefits.

Is the cost of therapy worthwhile?

I understand the financial investment that therapy and counseling require, but I absolutely believe the cost of therapy is worth it. I encourage you to view therapy as an investment in yourself, your relationships, and your ability to live a more fulfilling life.
